🚨 Close Call on Red Lick Road 🚨

Earlier today, a structure fire at the end of Red Lick Road could have had a very different outcome.
With thick smoke already filling the home and the back door beginning to burn, a family inside—parents and their 4-year-old child—were still asleep and unaware of the danger.

Thanks to the quick actions of first responders, including the Chief of Jackson County Fire Department, Pond Creek personnel, and a Berea College IT staff member, lives were saved.
These individuals rushed to the home and began beating on the door until the parents woke up. Once alerted, the family was able to make it to the door, and their 4-year-old was safely carried out by a responder.
The homeowners shared that without that urgent knock, they likely would not have woken up in time due to the heavy smoke.
đź’¬ This is a powerful reminder of just how critical early detection and fast response are. Please make sure your smoke alarms are working and that your family has an emergency plan in place.
🙏 We are incredibly grateful for the bravery and quick thinking of everyone involved. Today could have ended very differently.
