About RLVFD
The red line is the outline of the Red Lick Fire District. Each dot within the district indicates an address.

Red Lick Volunteer Fire Department is located east of Berea in rural Madison County, Kentucky. We have three vehicles, a fire engine, tanker, and brush truck. The department works closely with the other fire departments in the area including the Madison County FD, Berea FD, and Blue Grass Army Depot FD. They respond to incidents in our district when called, and we return the favor when needed.

The Red Lick Fire District is in Madison County, Kentucky and borders on Estill, Jackson, and Rockcastle counties. We work closely with the departments in these counties as well. Especially providing tanker support and fighting grass and wildland fires.

Red Lick VFD provides emergency services for fires of all types including structure fires, automobile fires, hay fires, grass fires, and wildland fires.  We also provide services for car and farm accident extraction. Red Lick VFD is known for several successful search and rescue responses.

Our district is a small one, covering less than 1,800 addresses. But we provide essential services to the people and business here. Having a fire station in the community lowers the insurance premiums for the home and business owners.

Our volunteers are on call 24/7. They live and work throughout the fire district. There is a good chance that one of us is close to an emergency call when it happens. That allows us to get someone on scene quickly to report the urgency of the situation by radio. The first person on scene with a fire department radio can tell dispatch what tools, skills, and manpower are needed. Because of this, before we put on our gear we are a valuable resource for the community.

Our meetings are Thursday nights at 7pm. Please feel free to stop by the station during a meeting to learn about joining.

The station is at:
